TOLERANCE TO NEGATIVE THINKING
THE FOURTH LAW OF FOCUS
The Fourth Law of Focus states that a positive focus pushes
your mind in a positive direction and turns on a positive

changing, and focus determines what the direction will be.
If you let depression determine the direction, you travel to a
depressing destination. If you chose a positive direction,
you head for a positive destination.
Negative thoughts never travel alone.
They always have a negative entourage traveling with them.
It's impossible to think only one negative thought. The
first negative thought brings a cascade of rude negative
companions pushing and shoving their way into your
consciousness. It's suddenly rush hour in your mind, and
all of your mental traffic heads in a negative direction.
The good news is that when you focus on
positive things, the traffic on the one way street instantly
heads in a positive direction. That is why focus is so
important. You must have a positive focus, or you will
suffer negative consequences. The traffic is going to head
one way or the other, and if you're smart, you will choose a

turn on a positive operating system. It's as if you had
flipped a switch in your mind, and now a positive operating
system assumes control. You now have a positive self-image
and positive self-esteem. A positive operating system
interprets events in a positive manner giving them a positive
meaning. It looks for the good in everyone and everything,
and it has positive expectations. It has a positive
spirituality based on love. It gives you real power over
your biggest problems, and it takes you to a positive
destination. There is no limit to how good your life can
become when a positive operating system controls your mind.
THE FIFTH LAW OF FOCUS
The Fifth Law of Focus states that you can change your focus
by changing what you say when you talk to your mind.
You have a lot of things to discuss with your
mind, and the words you say determines your mental focus.
If you don't like what you hear when your
mind talks to you, if it tells you depressing things, you can
use positive-self talk to change the message and push your inner
voice in a positive direction. You can make your focus as
positive as you want by telling yourself positive things.
What you say to your mind is your roadmap
to the future. Each word takes you to a specific
destination. Make sure what you say is positive so it
creates a positive focus and takes you where you want to go.
God gave you a mind, and He expects you to
fill it with good things. He wants you to say good things
to yourself so that you fill your heart and mind with loving
thoughts and healthy emotions.
Beating depression isn't rocket science.
Instead, it's mostly hard work. There are plenty of things
you can do to regain command and control over the thoughts
thundering in your mind, so don't even think about surrender.
The battle against depression is won on
the battlefield of focus, and if you use the power of positive
focus, you will win the battle.
Remember, if you want to have a mind free
from depression, nobody can stop you.
RECOGNIZE YOUR COGNITIVE
Twisted thoughts and
distorted emotions are the hallmark of mood disorders. When
mental slippage happens, twisted thinking takes hold and wonít
let go without a fight.
In chapter two I took you on a
tour through the mirrors of your mind, and I pointed out the
distorted mirrors commonly found in depression. Those mirrors
reflect the destructive emotions that torture people suffering
from mood disorders.

depressed. You need to put a name on each of the distorted
mirrors, because they are the source of your distorted
emotions. You must identify your twisted thoughts and call them
out by name.

the treatment of their depression. Recognizing your twisted
thinking and calling it by its name gives you the high ground in
the battle of the mind. The voice of depression has had free
reign inside your mind for too long, and itís time for you to
talk back and strike a blow for mental freedom.
