TOLERANCE TO NEGATIVE THINKING |

THE BIG EIGHT - THINK ON THESE
THINGS
How do you know whether you
should allow something to gain entrance into your mind? What
standard can you use with one-hundred percent assurance knowing
if you let it into your mind, your life will be better rather
than worse?
The Bible
says, “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is excellent,
whatever is admirable, whatever is worthy of praise, think on
these things.” I call these eight items “The Big Eight”. “The
Big Eight” always make your life better, and never make it
worse. They are reliable and trustworthy guides that keep you
from getting mired in the toxic waste of the twenty-first
century.
Let’s take
a look at “The Big Eight.”
1.
It’s true. It’s the truth, the whole truth and nothing but
the truth. There is no half-truth, distortion, or
misrepresentation of the truth. There is no spin-doctoring or
attempt to mislead.
2.
It’s noble. It elevates people lifting them up to a higher
level. It helps people live on a higher plane.
3.
It’s right. It’s spot on, just what the doctor ordered,
appropriate, and exactly what needs to be said or done at the
present moment.
4.
It’s pure. It’s unadulterated by the toxic waste of the
twenty-first century. When you put it inside your heart and
mind, you still have a clean mind and a pure heart. You are
clean inside which gives you twenty-twenty spiritual vision so
you can see God’s hand of love at work in your life, and you
have perfect spiritual hearing so you can hear God’s voice of
love.
5.
It’s lovely. It’s the loving thing to think, say, and do.
It fills your heart and mind with God’s love and love for other
people. When your heart and mind are full of love, they are
exactly the way God meant for them to be.
6.
It’s excellent. It requires the best of you. It leads you
away from mediocrity and pushes your mind in the direction of
excellence. You think excellent thoughts which lead to an
excellent life.
7.
It’s admirable. When you stand back and look at it, it
causes a sense of admiration to well-up inside your heart and
mind.
8.
It’s worthy of praise. You can recommend it to your family
and friends because it’s so worthwhile and good. It’s worthy of
your time, effort, and of who you are.
These
eight things are your gold standard, and they determine if you
want to have something in your mind. When these types of things
are in your mind, they always make your life better.

GUILTY
AS CHARGED
Take a look
at these fish. They belong to a group called "Everyone Anonymous".
Almost all the fish in the sea belong to this not-so-exclusive group.
They distinguish themselves by always doing the same thing as everyone
else. They swim in the same direction, they turn together, dive
together, and surface together. They look exactly alike, and when the
fish police put them in a line up, they can't pick out the good fish
from the bad. There's nothing to distinguish one fish from the other
since they all look and act the same.
Being a member of "Everyone Anonymous" does have its perks. There's
apparent safety in numbers, and that may keep them from being eaten.
On the other hand, their clone-like behavior may actually attract
predators who have a sixth sense that allows them to detect weakness
and easy prey.
If being
like everyone else guaranteed a great life, then membership in
"Everyone Anonymous" would be a good idea, but the opposite is true.
These drones lead dull predictable preprogrammed lives. The script
for life has already been written, and the outcome is sure. They will
never have a real life because they are always doing exactly what
everyone else is doing. They will never think an original thought or
dream great dreams.
Every time I
see a school of fish, I think about my life. I ask myself If I am a
member of "Everyone Anonymous." When my life is over and on judgment
day I stand in the final line up with all the rest, I hope millions of
people can point their finger at me, pick me out of the line up, and
say, "He's the one. That's definitely him. He's different from the
rest. He didn't conform, and he lived his dreams. He's guilty as
charged."
That's my
master plan. I want to be guilty of living my dreams.

ASK
AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE
Why does God want
me to ask him for good things? Why did Jesus say, “You have not,
because you ask not?”
ONE:
Asking reminds me that God is the source of all good things. All of
my talents and abilities come directly from him. The God who made the
world and everything in it has plenty of resources to supply all my
needs.
TWO:
Asking reminds me that God is my Father, and that He wants to give me
good things. God is not stingy with his children or miserly in
dispensing his blessings. He delights in giving his children what
they need, and even more than they need. He wants to fill their cups
until they overflow.
THREE:
Asking reminds me that my relationship with God is based on love
rather than on groveling and fear. When God looks at me, He looks
through eyes of love. From start to finish, He wants the best for me.
FOUR: Asking reminds me that my relationship with God is up
close and personal. The Father is never far. He is always present,
and I am to take my relationship with him in a personal way. I am on
speaking terms with God.
FIVE: Asking reminds me that I get what I expect. Asking is a
form of faith called positive expectations. When I talk to God, I am
to ask expectantly. I don’t get what I want. Instead, I get what I
expect.
SIX: Asking takes the handcuffs off God and allows him to
start working miracles in my life. God isn’t pushy; He gave me a free
will, but He can’t work miracles without me giving him permission. I
must say yes to God and open my heart and mind to the power of his
love so that He can make me into a new person.
SEVEN:
Asking opens my heart and mind to the new things that God wants to do
in my life. It’s the first step in getting into agreement with his
purpose and plan.
EIGHT: Asking connects me directly with God. It’s the way God
designed things to work in his Kingdom of love. Without asking, the
connection cannot happen. That’s why Jesus said, “You have not,
because you ask not.”
NINE: Asking makes spiritual growth possible. God wants me to
grow up spiritually. Although I am one of his children, He doesn’t
want me to remain as a child. He isn’t looking for an extended
spiritual adolescence; He wants me to grow up and become mature with a
heart full of excellence and love.
TEN: When
I ask expectantly, I start moving in a positive direction. I act as
if God has already given me what I need. Asking starts me moving and
doing my part so that God can do his part. After I do my part, God
does his.
